Enter 12 digits
Enter the first 12 digits of your EAN-13 number. The 13th digit, the check digit, is calculated for you.
Create EAN-13 barcodes in your browser. Enter 12 digits to calculate the check digit, or all 13 digits to verify the one you already have.
This page creates barcodes of this type.
EAN-13
Enter 12 digits to calculate the check digit, or 13 digits to verify it. Spaces and hyphens are ignored.
Choose how the barcode appears in the preview and in downloads.
The preview shows the barcode at its module geometry. Test printed barcodes with the scanner you plan to use.
Enter a value to see the barcode here.
PNG and SVG keep bar edges sharp. JPG is a compression format, offered for compatibility. Use PNG where crisp edges matter.
Enter the first 12 digits of your EAN-13 number. The 13th digit, the check digit, is calculated for you.
The check digit of a complete EAN-13 is verified. A mismatch is reported, and the value is not changed.
The status line below the value confirms whether the check digit was calculated or verified.
Check the preview, then download PNG, JPG, SVG or PDF. Share PNG is available where your device supports it.
Creates EAN-13 barcodes for 13-digit numbers, with the check digit calculated or verified.
From 12 digits, the generator adds the check digit using the EAN-13 rule.
All 13 digits are checked against the check digit rule, and a mismatch is reported.
Enter a number in groups. Separators are removed before the value is checked.
PNG, JPG, SVG and PDF, each built from the same barcode geometry.
EAN-13 and EAN-8 are both EAN barcodes, but they serve different product sizes and number lengths.
An 8-digit format for small products. It is available in the general Barcode Generator, not on this page.
A 12-digit format used on retail products. Choose UPC-A only where your system requires it.
A general-purpose barcode for text. It is not a product-number format.
EAN-13 encodes 13 digits. The first digit selects a pattern rather than being drawn as bars, and the last digit is the check digit.
The last digit is the check digit. The first digit is not drawn as bars; it selects the parity pattern used for the digits on the left side.
It is calculated from the first 12 digits with alternating weights of 1 and 3, counted from the left. Entering 12 digits calculates it; entering 13 verifies it.
EAN-8 is a shorter format for small products. It is available in the general generator. Choose EAN-13 where your number or system requires 13 digits.
The bars use the module geometry of the symbol. The generator keeps a minimum quiet zone of 11 modules on the left and 7 on the right.
Use an EAN-13 that your organisation is entitled to use. The generator does not allocate or verify GTINs.
Scanning depends on print quality, contrast and size. Test the printed result before using it in a retail or stock workflow.
Leave the left and right margins free of text and graphics. The left margin is the larger one.
Scale the barcode uniformly. A stretched barcode can fail to scan.
SVG keeps the bars as geometry. Use PNG for raster output with sharp module edges.
The tool does not apply GS1 print magnification or size limits. Check the requirements for your product before printing.
Print the barcode at the intended size and scan it with the device your workflow uses.
The tool adds the 13th digit, calculated from the first 12. With 13 digits it checks the last digit and reports a mismatch if it is wrong.
No. The generator encodes the number you enter. It does not register or allocate a GTIN.
EAN-8 is available in the general Barcode Generator. It has a shorter length and is not created on this page.
For UPC-A, use the UPC Barcode Generator. EAN-13 and UPC-A are related, but they have different lengths and input rules.
On devices that support file sharing, Share PNG passes the PNG file to the system share sheet. The number is not included as text.
