Barcodes

Create Code 128, EAN-13, UPC-A and EAN-8 barcodes in your browser, with check digits calculated or verified.

Barcode Generators

Each generator below is tuned for one format, or start with the general generator to pick a format as you go.

Choosing a barcode type

Start with the system that will read the barcode. Use Barcode Generator to choose among the supported formats, or Code 128 Generator for a focused way to encode suitable text and numbers. For a retail product number, choose EAN-13 Generator or UPC Barcode Generator according to the format required by the receiving system.

A barcode that scans successfully is not necessarily the right type for its destination. Confirm the expected format before preparing labels, particularly when another organization will use them.

General-purpose and retail barcodes

Code 128 is useful for internal references and other identifiers that may contain letters as well as numbers. EAN-13 and UPC-A have fixed numeric structures intended for retail product identification. Their required length and check digit are part of the format.

The generators create a barcode from the value you supply; they do not allocate product numbers or register products. Keep your underlying identifier consistent, and check a sample in the intended scanning workflow before producing a larger batch of labels.
